Five Peonies, frame design; Thunder

Available for purchase

ID:NO.6-2

There are seven Peonies, known as the king of flowers, in this luxury rug. The butterfly motifs, with pupas disguising the butterflies at the four corners, express immortality. It is inspired by Miyamairi, a Shinto ceremony for newborns, similar to Christian baptism. The kimono worn by a baby for Miyamairi is often designed with butterflies, because butterflies signify a changed figure.
Same as No. 6-1, but with different colors.
